PokerStars has launched its inaugural Ontario Spring Championship of Online Poker (ONSCOOP), bringing the flagship Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) to the Ontario online poker market for the first time. The two-week event, which began on March 25 and ends on April 11, guarantees CAD 1.8 million ($1.4 million) in prize money across the board. It features 43 events split into three tiers - Low, Medium and High - totaling 129 tournaments.

The buy-ins come in nearly a dozen different price points starting at CAD 5 ($4) and going up to CAD 2,000 ($1,585). The highlight of the schedule is the $300 Main Championship Event, which boasts CAD 150,000 ($118,000) in guaranteed prize money. Other events include a $30,000 guarantee for the $30 Mini Main and a $70,000 guarantee for the $1,000 High Roller edition. The festival also includes around a dozen niche tournaments, including Omaha Hi/Lo, Five Card PLO, mixed rotation, and a 5-Card Draw event.

The operator is running a slate of promotions to encourage players to participate, including a Player of the Series leaderboard and CAD 30,000 in added value satellites. The popular Progressive Knockout (PKO) format is also well-represented on the schedule in various forms, including a Total KO edition where the entire buy-in is added to the bounty prize pool. Three dozen tournaments have been designated as Championship events, including the three Main Events, PLO, and other mixed events. The leaderboard included CAD $40,000 in prize money distributed across Low/Medium/High tiers and an 'Overall' category for the Player of the Series who is awarded a Trophy. PokerStars has also added a $3 buy-in Spin & Go, with $300 ONSCOOP Main Event tickets as top prizes.

This marks the second major tournament series of the year hosted by PokerStars Ontario, following the successful Bounty Builder series that guaranteed CAD $700,000 over 100 tournaments, culminating in a $75,000 guaranteed Main Event. Before that series, the operator held the 50/50 Series with over CAD $250,000 in guaranteed prize money. With the launch of the first-ever ONSCOOP, PokerStars Ontario is showcasing their commitment to providing exciting and lucrative online poker events for Ontarian players. Poker fans across the province can look forward to two weeks of intense poker action with a chance to win big and compete against some of the best players in the region.
